I’m very excited to be neighbors with Art in House and their group of bright and talented artists. I was recently able to participate in a community art event hosted at Art in House. We had the opportunity to do some relief printing and the turn out was fabulous, encompassing all ages. Be sure to “Like” their page to keep up with their many upcoming events and kid-friendly workshops. I look forward to seeing what Art in House brings forth in future!

A little bit more about Art In House:

New to Lakeshore Mews is the community art gallery, Art in House!

Art in House is a space where people meet to celebrate art, creativity, and community. Our hope is to bring local forms of artistic expression to the forefront, with the desire to further connect our community to art projects beyond our immediate contexts.

On the night of the Art Crawl, Art in House will be celebrating the work of Alana Sproule. A note from the artist:

“I gather objects in my life. They serve little purpose but feed a desire to surround myself with beautiful things: vintage doilies and handkerchiefs, forgotten lists, song lyrics, memories, domestic skills.

Good embroidery, like a good collection, takes time. Both are time consuming, both require patience. Is it possible for a collection to ever be complete, or are we doomed to hunt for the thrill of the find for the rest of our days? Do we own our collections, or do our collections own us?

“Come on and sew us together, just some tattered rags stained forever. We only have what we remember.” -Listener
